SESSION ACTIVITIES
  • To give everyone a better idea of who you are and how you are currently using technology in your classroom, answer the following questions on the home page discussion board (don’t worry you will be asked to share your information with the group).

  • Read the article Webquests in Social Studies Education and consider the following discussion questions. Your responses will not only help to guide our discussion, but also help to shape the remaining sessions, so please be honest.

What are the possible benefits of using webquests with your students? What could be the possible drawbacks of webquests?
  • Before we get started with creating our own webquests, let's look at the essential elements of an effective webquest. The image below will walk you through the essential elements of a webquest.

  • Using Google, create and name your website based on your webquest’s topic. Make sure to create pages for each element of the webquest. In our next session we will focus on developing learning objectives and aligning those objectives to curriculum standards. Note: If you get a lost while creating your site, you refer to the “cheat sheet.”

  • Wrap-Up: What topic did you select for your webquest and why? You can post your responses to the Padlet page for this session.
